SHREK The Third – The Third Time’s Not The Charm!

May 18, 2007

SHREK The Third Movie ReviewSHREK The Third will undoubtedly make tons of money, which is a shame. Despite the exquisite animation, the latest adventure of the semi-heroic ogre does not live up to expectations [unless you were expecting a very average film…].  (more…)

A Once in A Lifetime Affair.

May 17, 2007

Once Interview and ConcertEarlier this week I had the opportunity to attend the LA press day for the new Fox Searchlight film Once. While the film is being billed as an Irish musical, writer/director John Carney is adamant about not calling his film a musical. Carney and the film’s stars Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová gave a one hour Q and A and then wowed the appreciative press crowd with a live musical performance. Marketa was rocking my favorite Kurzweil keyboard. A good time was had by all.  (more…)

May 17, 2007

Halo 3 MultiplayerOk, for those that don’t know, my gamer tag on X-Box Live is Hardcorequeen and the queen has scored an invite to the Halo 3 Beta that by the time you read this should be available to a wider audience – namely the folks who bought the Crackdown CD. So now that I have Halo downloaded, I’m going to fire it up and give you my impressions. As well as a daily update on my progress and tons of video clips. The release of Halo 3 in September will be one of the biggest Entertainment launches of the year. Is the wait worth it, will Halo 3 top Gears of War? Time will tell. This beta will last from now until June. (more…)

Away From Her: Sorrow In Magnificent Stillness!

May 16, 2007

Away From Her onesheetSarah Polley is something of an indie darling. She turned her back on Hollyweird to make films she’s passionate about. As an actor, she’s been around since even before her “big break” in Terry Gilliam’s The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and has maybe two relatively commercial credits to her credit: the TV series Road to Avonlea, and James Gunn’s revisionist take on George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead. Away From Her is Polley’s first feature effort as writer/director and it is a film of quiet magnificence.  (more…)

28 Weeks Later – The Rare Sequel That Equals The Original!

May 12, 2007

28 Weeks Later Movie ReviewIt’s been six months since the Rage virus pretty much destroyed Britain. Now, in this excellent sequel, an area of London – the Green Area – is welcoming a combination of repatriated survivors and people who were out of the country while the virus raged [so to speak…]… 28 Weeks Later gets off to a running [literally] start when a group of survivors have their cozy, boarded up cottage assailed by infectees after letting a young boy in. As the infectees tear up various members of the group, Don [Robert Carlyle] makes a break for freedom – leaving his wife, Alice [Catherine McCormack] behind.  (more…)

Lindsay Lohan Shines in Georgia Rule! Michelle’s Review.

May 12, 2007

Lindsay Lohan Georgia Rule Movie ReviewUnlike the rest of today’s crop of Hollywood party girl bimbos, Lindsay Lohan proves once again that she actually has some talent. Why she feels a need to play like she’s a dumb Paris Hilton wannabe is beyond me. If she thinks it’ll help her sell tickets to her movies, then she’s wrong. If it’s just the “crack is whack” getting hold of her, then maybe the one week celebrity revolving door rehab will straighten her out. And girl, eat something!  (more…)

What?! Stone Cold Steve Austin does good! What?! Michelle Likes The Condemned. What?!

May 12, 2007

EclipseMagazine.com The Condemned Movie ReviewI was looking for a movie like this. The last really fun, over the top cheesy film that I saw was Ghost Rider. What?! I said I’ve been seeing a lot overly serious movies lately. What?! You know movies that are trying to say something about the human condition. What?! Its summer, I want to see shit get blown up. What?! You know – violence, stabbings, a building exploding, a car rolling over, a Ferrari getting smashed, something. What?! I’m not saying The Condemned isn’t a message movie. What?! Yeah, believe it or not The Condemned is not only an over the top, brutally violent action flick, but it also has the gall to have a message! What?!  (more…)
