“Rebound”

June 29, 2005

“Rebound” is basically a Martin Lawrence showcase vehicle.
Story is about a self-centered college basketball coach (and
former player) who is temporarily ousted from his job and
ends up back at his junior high school as the coach of a
very losing team. There is absolutely nothing original in
this film but it does move right along.

GRADE = “C+”

NOTE : There was a short trailer for “Big Momma’s House 2”
with Martin in a ‘fat suit’ wearing a bathing suit!

“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”

June 24, 2005

“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” is the story of four life-long teenage friends who will spend they first summer apart and have found a pair of ‘magic’ jeans that fits each of them, even though they are a variety of shapes. One stays in suburban Maryland; another goes to South Carolina to visit her divorced father; the third goes to a sports camp in Mexico; the last, to Greece to visit her grandparents. The adventures and misadventures of the four during the summer are woven together as the jeans spend a week with each person. An insightful film with good performances (and not just for teenage girls).
