Saw this movie last night and I really liked it. It’s a refreshing sentimental story apart from all those damn sequels. Good performances from Chris Cooper and Jeff Bridges. It’s not great, but it really just feels good at about this time. I recommend it for this weekend.
I was not crazy about this movie. IT wasn’t the worst ST installment, but it was far from the best. I watched the deleted scenes though, and I think the deleted ending was much more effective.
And how come the Wil Wheaton scenes weren’t included in the deleted scenes? He was cut out of the movie because the first edit resulted in a three-hour movie. But we could have seen a little bit of him on the dvd.
“Passionada” is a standard Hollywood
romance, set in the Portuguese section
of New Bedford, Massachusetts. It
includes the lives of three generations
of women. The oldest is the widowed
mother-in-law who lives in the upstairs
apartment of a duplex; the middle is an
attractive widow of 7 years who just
exists; the youngest is the teenage
daughter who wants more of life than
she sees. Into their lives comes a
rogue gambler who ends up changing
all of their lives in ways that they could
never imagine. Not a great movie, and
more like a made-for-tv type.

“Freaky Friday” is the updated remake
of a film from 1977, which has also been
remade as a tv-movie. This is a pleasant
summer family comedy with good
performances by all.

“UG” is an overly predictable
‘chick flick’ for the young. There
are no surprises in this recycled
mess. The actors, including the
pig, do the best they can with
the hackneyed plot. Young girls
might enjoy this unless they
have seen many movies, but
there are many wrong messages
